The #NatureSelfie contest was more than just snapping candids outdoors. It’s also a way to pressure Twitter to use clean energy for its platform following the likes of other tech giants including Facebook.
Those participants on Twitter tweeted their #NatureSelfie and asked @Twitter to make it green by powering it with clean energy. Currently, Twitter uses dirty energy like coal and gas to power its platform. Facebook, Google and Apple have shown admirable progress in powering their data centers with clean energy including wind and solar, and we know Twitter can do the same. From tent camping to smelling the sweaty hikes to just stopping to smell the flowers, people are obviously getting outdoors this summer.
